schools don't address indigenous schools don't address indigenous languages schools don't address concerns for culture that we have that's very difficult grow up as a child of immigrants in the place where you feel like you're not liked or wanted or understood  fifties criticism daily and when you're lost and you don't know who you are or you're just missing the component of identity there's a void there when you come from a economically disadvantaged family where you are challenged by learning another language where your challenge how people look at you and think about you and you live in a world where violence is a daily reality every day so far Educators need to think about what is it that we can do for these children I need my wife and myself set out to figure out a way to create an alternative Tamia's is about having a safe place for our kids safe both internally emotionally as well as safe externa the violence that is a reality in the streets of Los Angeles  and it's about whether or not our next Generation remembers who they drown fair and square  Samantha teaches you'd appreciate it and teaches you how all the cultures are somehow connected one way or another it's made me feel a lot more confident about myself it just really makes me happy that I get to express myself for who I am sania's strives to find a way for our kids to be able to become Scholars to develop the intellectual curiosity that they're born with be able to dream about going to College when in reality the high schools around us only send if anything maybe two kids out of 10 ready to go to college when you graduate stop No Child Left Behind we really live that here we come together as a community needed it's it's a family will you be take care of each other help each other in any situation that we need a family throat culture through Community as well as through those personal experiences such as the transcendental meditation for the quiet time program we have a whole other level of opportunity that opens up to my student Transcendental Meditation has a way for us to be able to create a sense of autonomy in how the children themselves learn to heal themselves so calm and I feel like everything is going to be okay and that there's always a solution  it's like energy I get from it and it Steven want to learn even more in my classes like yes I can do this I can go onto a four University and come help my community Samantha's become part of the soul of the community in Los Angeles not just in our neighborhood and Sentinel that didn't exist before is the time of the new beginning and that gives rise to New Hope that the children of all indigenous peoples will also be able to have a different in a better this program that allows children to see themselves in a positive light to feel that they can contribute to society and that they can he one of the answers to making this a better world for everyone turn off turn it up
