Tenth Anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP)

The University of Colorado Law School and the Secretariat of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (SPFII) are hosting a two-day event on 13-14 September, 2017, to commemorate the Tenth Anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). The event will look back at the advocacy that resulted in the passage of the UN Declaration, discuss its present-day usage, and look ahead towards its implementation and future.

Thanks to a generous partnership with attorney Salomon Zavala of Zavala Law Group, Semillas is proud to announce pro bono legal services for all Anahuacalmecac students and alumni to apply to renew their applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Mr. Zavala will provide pro bono legal services for all Anahuacalmecac students and alumni for this application. Semillas del Pueblo Celebrates Indigenous Peoples Day in Los Angeles Victory

Yesterday, after a two-year struggle and multiple processes of public dialogue, the Los Angeles City Council voted to repeal Columbus Day and adopt Indigenous Peoples Day in its place. To commemorate this historic event Anahuacalmecac will host a press conference and school assembly at the City of Los Angeles' only Indigenous Peoples autonomous school. This victory is not just a calendar change, it is a sign of a positive change of times for all peoples.
