Indigenous leaders gather to denounce racism against Black and Indigenous Peoples in LA City Hall

Today, Indigenous community leaders convened by Comunidades Indigenas en Liderazgo (CIELO) presented demands to address the racist statements and strategies by Los Angeles City politicians recently disseminated on various platforms. Leaders present including Odilia Romero, Executive Director of CIELO, Gaspar Rivera-Salgado, Executive Director of the UCLA Center for Mexico Studies, Dr. Shannon Speed, Director of the UCLA American Indian Studies Center and Marcos Aguilar, Executive Director of Semillas del Pueblo, denounced racism expressed against Black and Indigenous Peoples and called for the resignations of all involved. Calls for restoration and reconciliation following truth and accountability unified those present.
