Nikan Tochan: Food Sovereignty Workshops

At Anahuacalmecac we have created a food distribution program as part of our Nikan Tochan Initiative. We distribute fresh groceries weekly to our family members, and also offer workshops where families can express their concerns on food accessibility and organize as a community to resolve the issue of food inequality. These programs include workshops on food apartheid, food sovereignty, cooking classes, and Indigenous autonomy in our community of El Sereno. This project goes beyond just a food distribution project, as a community we are addressing the history of colonization that have led our communities to suffer unjust access to healthy, fresh, and cultural foods and creating our own solutions.

Join us for weekly zoom workshops.
Workshops are hosted in english and spanish and are open to the public.
